Viagra Gives Rise to Infection Potential

Tom Liston at SANS gives a humorous - but serious - admonishment to webmasters titled "Putting the ED back in EDU". To state his case, Tom gives a quick rundown on some of the .edu and .gov sites that are being used in spamdexing to peddle Viagra. Or as Tom puts it,

"Nothing makes a taxpayer more proud than to know that their government websites are flogging fixes for flagging phalluses."

What Tom doesn't mention, but which we see at ScanSafe a lot, is that many of the sites used for spamdexing were also being used to foist malware onto visitors' computers at some point in the past. From that standpoint, if a site is found to be hosting pages used for spamdexing, then chances are pretty good that the site may also have been (or still be) a threat to Web surfers.
