ScanSafe Semi-Annual Global Threat Report

It's been a very busy week. STAT finished up the June GTR, which includes a look at Web-based malware trends that developed in the first half of 2008. Yesterday I spoke with Tom Jowitt of TechWorld about our findings - you can read the results of that interview here. Highlights of the semi-annual report include a 278% increase in Web-based malware; backdoors and password stealers increased from 4% in January to 27% of all web-based malware in June 2008. Also by June, SQL injection attacks had outpaced all other forms of compromise by 212%. SQL injection also outpaced XSS attacks, which Kelly Jackson Higgins of Dark Reading covers here. You can download the full ScanSafe Semi-Annual Global Threat Report here.
