Mea culpa...

We have a series of checks and balances we use to always ensure the data we release is 100% accurate. But because we released the Top 5 Vertical list before all of the analysis was complete, some of those checks and balances weren't yet in play. The end result, a data entry error initially went undetected. Fortunately, its overall impact was pretty minor - though if you're in the Media & Publishing sector perhaps you'll be less forgiving.

Lets hope not. (And trust me, I'm beating myself up bad enough for the screw up.)

In a nutshell, a segment of raw numbers dealing with the Media & Publishing sector were inadvertently transposed. This impacted a couple of things:

1. Media & Publishing is not #5 on the list as originally reported. In fact, the Media & Publishing sector is at 0% - experiencing the median rate of exposure and neither higher nor lower than other verticals.

2. Other than Media & Publishing moving down the list, there was no impact on the order of the remaining verticals.

3. The correction did have a small impact on the median rate, which of course resulted in small changes to the overall rate of exposure percentages. But again, the order of the remaining verticals was unaffected.

We'll be posting a corrected version of the Global Threat Report tomorrow. In the meantime, here's the proper top 5 list:

Energy & Oil: 196%
Pharmaceutical & Chemical: 192%
Construction & Engineering: 150%
Transportation & Shipping: 129%
Travel & Leisure: 66%
